LED SIGN VIEWING DISTANCE

The information on the left refers to text on moving message signs.

When numbers are involved instead, as on a scoreboard, the range is increased by approx. 20%

e.g. For our scoreboards used outdoors, these are the approximate MAXIMUM viewing distances...

200mm, dual row, 107 LED's - 140 metres

260mm, dual row, 107 LED's- 180 metres

300mm, dot matrix, 276 LED's - 250 metres

330mm, triple row, 226 LED's - 230 metres

450mm dot matrix, 552 LED's - 380 metres

A factor to consider is the quantity of LED's per digit or digit segment.

Our 200mm and 260mm digits have 2 rows of LED's per segment and the 330mm digit has 3 rows.

The 300mm and 450mm digits are dot matrix which means the number is made up of a series of 23 dots of multiple LED's. The 300 digit has 12 LED's per dot or 276 per digit and the 450 has 24 LED's per dot or 552 per digit. These types of digits further increase the range another 20% over 7 segment type digits.

Indoor scoreboards have a similar but slightly longer viewing distance.
