Australian Junior Sedan Titles - WA 2008

Adrian & Dean Cottrell raced superbly at these titles with the following results...

Adrian won every heat race, despite being put rear of field in one for late attendance at a drivers meeting (for which the call for drivers was not even heard!)

He then went on to win the championship race, only to have his race car declared illegal after the event. In fact, 4 placegetters in the top 6 were eliminated on technical / mechanical grounds leaving the trophy in the hands of a WA driver. While we can not say too much (the results and exclusions are being appealed), I do believe (as sponsors of Cottrell Racing) that we have a right to voice our disgust over the officialdom of the ASCF at this race meeting. Adrians race car was deemed illegal for a carburettor throttle linkage which has been on the car for some 7 years. During these years it has raced at numerous state and national titles without a problem. Even at this race meeting, the car was inspected prior to racing and declared ok to race! No-one knew, or bothered to point out, that this linkage might not be legal... until he won the event! What is going on here?

Anyway, one can not dispute the fact that Adrian is a true champion, winning every race at a national level event... that makes him simply the best to us!

Dean drove the best ever to record an overall 6th place in the championship - well done!

From our point of view... these kids are getting the wrong message from offialdom! We are supposed to be teaching them the value of honesty, integrity, following the rules, playing fair etc all within the dirt track speedway arena - for the purpose of nurturing tomorrows great speedway drivers. So we ask the ASCF, what are you teaching them?
